One of the first things people ask me about plasma fibroblast is, "What will I look like afterwards, and how long will it take?" It's a fair question, especially in the lead-up to Christmas when diaries fill fast.
I'm Bec, the owner of The Age-Well Room in Maroochydore. This post walks you through what healing looks like, day by day, and how to plan your treatment around work, events and the holidays. For the full before and after rules, see our plasma care guide.
After plasma fibroblast, the treated area has small carbon dots that fall off on their own. At my clinic they take 5 to 10 days to disappear, so that's the window I suggest you plan around. Your skin then keeps repairing and building collagen, with near-final results usually seen around weeks 8 to 12. Healing varies from person to person.
What's different about healing after plasma fibroblast
Plasma fibroblast uses a pen to make tiny, controlled marks in the skin, and each one forms a carbon dot. That's why healing is visible, and why it's worth planning ahead. You can read more about how it works on our anti-ageing and skin tightening page, or in my post on the non-surgical eyelift.
Fusion8 Plasma is a different treatment. It doesn't leave carbon dots, so its healing looks different. I'll explain which one suits you at your free consultation.
Your healing timeline, day by day
These stages match our plasma care guide. Everyone heals at their own pace.
Treatment day
You'll leave with carbon dots on the treated area, and it will feel warm and tight. Planning tip: arrange a lift home, especially if I've treated around your eyes.
Days 1 to 2
The area feels hot and tight, and you'll see pinpoint dots. Planning tip: keep these two days quiet.
Days 2 to 4
Swelling is most likely in this window, and some mild clear fluid is normal. It can be blotted clean. Eyes like to swell, so you may see more swelling around the eyes than in other areas of the face. Body areas tend not to swell. Planning tip: if you can work from home on these days, it may help.
Days 5 to 10
This is when the dots fall off on their own, and new skin underneath looks fresh and pink. Please never pick at the dots, because picking can lead to scarring, pitted skin and pigment changes. Planning tip: if you have an event, I'd like the dots to have fully gone before it.
Weeks 1 to 4
Your skin is still repairing and can feel dry and tight. Keep it hydrated, and wear SPF 50+ and a hat every day.
Weeks 4 to 8, then 8 to 12
Over these weeks your skin keeps building collagen, and many people notice it looking healthier and feeling smoother. By around weeks 8 to 12 you're well on the way to your near-final results. If a repeat treatment is recommended, it can be done from week 12. Results vary from person to person.
Planning around work
I'm available by appointment on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9am to 8pm, and closed on Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. Many people are back to normal daily activities within about 4 days, but the dots stay on until they fall off, which can take 5 to 10 days. So think about how you'd feel at work or in public with the dots showing.
Hats and sunglasses are fine. For makeup, there are two rules to know:
- No makeup for a minimum of 4 days after treatment.
- I highly recommend no makeup while the dots are still on.
Planning around Christmas, parties and summer
If you have dates in mind, it helps to work back from them. The dots take 5 to 10 days to go, so I suggest booking at least 10 days before your date. Here's how that looks for December 2026. Because I'm closed on Tuesdays, most of these land on a Monday.
| If your date is… | Book your treatment on or before… |
|---|---|
| Fri 4 December | Mon 23 November |
| Fri 11 December | Mon 30 November |
| Fri 18 December | Mon 7 December |
| Fri 25 December (Christmas Day) | Mon 14 December |
| Thu 31 December (New Year's Eve) | Mon 21 December |
The last treatment day before Christmas is Wednesday 23 December 2026. If you're treated that day, plan for the dots to still be on over Christmas and New Year, and to be gone by about Saturday 2 January at the latest. The clinic is closed from 24 December and reopens on Monday 4 January 2027.
Summer and water. No swimming, and no submerging your face in water, until the dots have fallen off. That includes the pool, the ocean and the bath. Protect the area from the sun with SPF 50+ and a hat, and avoid direct sun, tanning, saunas and hot tubs until you're fully healed, as in our care guide.
Planning a busy December? If you're also thinking about facials, the Pelvic Floor Chair or WONDER Axon, we can map out the timing of everything together at your free consultation.

Plasma fibroblast healing FAQs
How long does plasma fibroblast healing take?
The carbon dots take 5 to 10 days to disappear. After that your skin keeps repairing and building collagen, with near-final results usually seen around weeks 8 to 12. Healing varies from person to person.
When can I go back to work after plasma fibroblast?
Many people are back to normal activities within about 4 days. The dots stay on until they fall off, which can take 5 to 10 days, so it depends on how comfortable you feel with them showing. It also depends on the area treated and how you heal. Plan for a little more time than you think you'll need.
Can I wear makeup after plasma fibroblast?
Not for a minimum of 4 days after treatment, and I highly recommend no makeup while the dots are still on. Once the dots have fallen off, you can start a gentle daily cleanser and moisturiser. If you're not sure about anything, just ask me.
Can I swim or go to the beach while I'm healing?
Not until the dots have fallen off. Please don't swim or submerge your face in water before then. When you're outside, use SPF 50+ and a hat.
Can I get plasma fibroblast before a Christmas party?
You can plan around it. I suggest booking at least 10 days before your date, and the last treatment day before Christmas is Wednesday 23 December 2026. Come in for a free consultation and we'll work out the timing together.
When will I see results?
New collagen builds over weeks. Near-final results are usually seen around weeks 8 to 12, and a repeat treatment can be done from week 12 if I recommend one. Results vary from person to person.
Does it hurt?
I apply numbing cream and leave it on for up to 40 minutes, so most clients don't feel too much discomfort. Afterwards the area usually feels hot and tight. Everyone's comfort is different, and I'll talk you through what to expect at your consultation.
